I think everyone wants to think of themselves as being as clever and witty as the people they're watching on TV or reading about in a book. (Of course, none of us are, but to criticize Olivia Pope or Ender Wiggin or Katarina Bishop or Hazel Grace Lancaster whoever for being "too smart" is to admit that WE would not be that smart.
